5 steps of complete mould remediation.

Moulds can completely destroy the beauty of any home and can be extremely difficult to remove. In order to eradicate mould completely from the house it is really important to find the source of mould at first place. This needs proper inspection and planning to execute proper mould remediation. The whole process will be conducted in several steps and this is a work of a professional. Firstly you will be needing a thorough careful investigation of your house to find out the locations where moulds are present, than find out the sources of water or moisture reaching those areas contaminated with moulds. Secondly note down the severity of the problem and come up with a remediation plan. After that calculate the contaminated area in order to apply level 1 or level 2 remediation. Step 4 is to start the cleaning process by creating a barrier for moisture to enter those areas again and cleaning the area thoroughly from any dust and ensure complete dryness, and perform a visibility test. The last step would be to determine if the mould remediation in Sydney process has been successful or not. Let’s elaborate in detail every process 1 by 1.

Detect Moisture:

Before finding a solution to any problem the first thing everyone needs to do is detect its source and cause. Moulds are formed due to presence of moisture everyone knows that so it’s immensely important to find the sources of water or moisture reaching those areas contaminated with moulds. For that purpose carefully inspect your entire house and every water source which could reach the mould surface and make it worse, then on priority remove those sources spreading the moisture. You need to make sure moulds reproduce by presence of moisture and oxygen so you need to cut down that source completely.

Map out Remediation plan:

You cannot figure out the situation of the mould in just one day. You will have to keep on examining the situation by keeping a record or taking photos on regular basis. This will help you to bring out a strategy plan for a successful mould remediation. The plan will tell the time consumption on the work done, the extent of success of your work, and who will perform this mould removal task, and most importantly the severity of the problem to decide whether the owners should be relocated temporarily or not.

Calculate the severity and damaged surface:

Sometimes the problem is not so big and can be easily handled with a little work but if the severity of the problem is beyond your thinking than serious actions would be recommended to resolve the problem and make your home free of mould. For this purpose keeping a track is of great importance. Calculate the surface area, cleaning requirements, and estimated cost to find out the level of action plan you need.

Start the remediation process:

After all the homework it is time to do the real action. You have everything on your table, the cause, the source, the extent, and the solution. It’s time to dig in and start the cleaning process. It contains several steps starting with carefully scraping of the existing mould avoiding direct exposure to any more moisture which can result in future mould growths again. Cut down the moisture completely, isolate the affected area from any kind of contamination, and limit maximum dust particles to enter the surface, and leave the surface for few days before doing anything else on it.

Determine the success:

After performing the thorough clean-up on the infected area run a visibility test by inspecting that the entire surface is dust free and not reaching any dirt particle or moisture from anywhere. Dry-out all the wet equipment and replace the old infected ones with new ones. Monitor the situation for some days or even months, and make sure the problem has been fixed entirely with no new signs of mould arising from the previous sources.

Environmental testing company can also provide testing for any more existing problem of water damage. For the future it’s always good to take necessary precautions beforehand and if you can implement the moisture management strategy at your home, you will save yourself a lot of cost and damage in future.
